Trading Methodology

The bot identifies "Liquidity Pools" where retail stop-losses are clustered. Once a sweep occurs and a displacement candle closes back within range, the system enters on the FVG retracement. It ignores all standard lagging indicators like RSI or MACD in favor of pure price delivery logic.

Funded Account Guide

A working strategy still needs capital. Risking your own savings on day one can end the journey early. Funded accounts let you trade larger size with a defined challenge fee, take payouts, and rebuild personal capital from profits — so you can stay in the game for the long run. Below: why that matters, how programs work, and a demo calculator. Always confirm rules on each firm’s official site.

Why funded matters more than risking your own money

If you already have a strategy, the bottleneck is usually capital and survival — not entry signals. Advise yourself like a business: protect personal net worth while you prove the process at size.

Own capital
High personal risk

A drawdown hits your savings directly. Even a good strategy can wipe small accounts through normal variance — and once personal money is gone, the long-run path stops.

Funded path
Defined cost, firm capital

You typically risk a challenge fee — not a full $50K–$200K deposit. Pass the rules, trade their capital, and work toward payouts while personal savings stay mostly protected.

Long run
Build your own fund from profits

Use payouts to grow a personal investment pool gradually. That is how many traders move from “fee for access” to “self-funded with buffer” — without betting life capital on learning curves.

  • Manage large size with less cash outlay — evaluation fees are often a fraction of the account you end up trading.
  • Strategy + capital mismatch solved — edge on a $2K account rarely compounds like edge on a $100K book with rules.
  • Psychology of bounded loss — knowing your personal downside is mostly the fee makes rule-following easier than fear of losing savings.
  • Payout → personal capital flywheel — bank payouts, then size up private accounts carefully when you choose.
  • Stay in the market longer — longevity beats one heroic year; funded is a structure for survival while skills mature.
  • Still not “risk-free” — fees, resets, and rule breaches cost money. Treat funded as leveraged opportunity with discipline — not free money.
Our advice: If you have a tested process, consider proving it on funded capital while you keep personal reserves for life, learning, and eventual self-funding. Own money is precious — earn the right to risk more of it after payouts and consistency, not before.
What is a Funded Account?

A funded account allows you to trade with a proprietary firm's capital instead of your own money. You pass a trading challenge that tests your skills — then the firm gives you a real account with their money. You keep 70-90% of the profits.

Personal capital largely protected (fee-based risk)
Accounts from $10K to $200K+
Keep 70-90% of profits
Scale up as you prove consistency
How Does It Work?
1
Pay the Challenge Fee
One-time fee ($50-$500) depending on account size
2
Pass the Challenge
Hit the profit target (8-10%) while respecting drawdown limits
3
Verification Phase
Second round with lower target (5%) to confirm consistency
4
Get Funded
Receive your funded account and start earning real profits

Types of funded programs

Firms package evaluations differently. The labels vary by marketing, but these are the usual shapes.

Classic
Two-step challenge

Phase 1 profit target + drawdown rules, then Phase 2 (often smaller target). Most common. Higher challenge fee, stricter consistency checks on some desks.

Faster path
One-step evaluation

Single combined target and drawdown window. Fewer stages, but room for error is smaller — risk per trade matters more.

Direct
Instant / direct funding

Pay for immediate access with rules from day one — no “pass” phase, but ongoing consistency and drawdown limits still apply. Read payout and scaling terms carefully.

Verify naming on the broker’s site. “Challenge”, “evaluation”, and “verification” mean different phase names at different firms.

Costs you should budget for

The evaluation fee is not your trading loss cap — it’s the price of access. Plan for these line items before you start.

  • Challenge / evaluation fee — one-time, scales with account size (roughly tens to hundreds of dollars for retail programs).
  • Resets or extra attempts — if you breach rules, some firms let you pay to restart or extend.
  • Data / platform — VPS, news feeds, or platform fees if you choose add-ons.
  • Payouts — often on a cycle (e.g. biweekly); first payout may have a minimum or “buffer” rule.
  • Taxes & reporting — treat payouts per your jurisdiction; Mayuron does not give tax advice.
  • Time — opportunity cost while you learn the firm’s dashboard and rule set.

How drawdown rules actually work

“Max drawdown” is not one universal formula. These are the usual variants — your dashboard enforces one specific version per program.

ConceptPlain English
Daily loss limitCap on how much equity can drop from the day's starting balance (or session). Hitting it often locks trading until next day or fails the challenge.
Static max drawdownDrawdown measured from the initial account balance — buffer does not move up as you profit unless rules say so.
Trailing drawdownHigh-water mark moves with your best equity — the "floor" can rise when you profit, tightening room below peak.
Consistency / min daysSome phases require N active days or forbid "one lucky trade" passes — check minimum lots or profit distribution rules.

What firms are really testing

Profit target is visible; the hidden test is whether you can follow a risk system under pressure.

Risk discipline

Position size vs. stop distance, avoiding revenge trades after a loss, staying inside daily and total limits.

Process

Repeatable setups, journaling, and avoiding rule violations (news windows, weekend holds if banned, copy trading bans).

Consistency

Smooth equity curve vs. one spike — some programs cap single-trade profit share or require minimum trading days.

Common reasons challenges fail

  • Oversizing after a win or doubling down after a loss — breaches daily or trailing drawdown.
  • Ignoring session times, news blackouts, or holding through weekends when the rulebook forbids it.
  • Treating the eval like a lottery (few huge bets) instead of steady R-multiples.
  • Not reading the specific “breach” definition — some firms fail you on soft breaches differently.

After you’re funded

Funded is not “free money” — it’s a live account with compliance and payout mechanics.

Payouts

Split (e.g. 80/20) applies to withdrawable profit after fees. Minimum withdrawal, KYC, and schedule vary — read the payout policy before your first trade.

Scaling

Many programs increase allocation after consistent months — usually requires profit targets, low drawdown, and sometimes a fee or review.

Due diligence checklist

  • Regulatory / legal standing of the firm and dispute process (country-specific).
  • Exact PDF rulebook: instruments allowed, leverage, lot limits, news trading, EAs, hedging, copy trading.
  • Refund or free retry policy on challenge fees if any.
  • Live support quality and how rule breaches are communicated.

This page is educational only, not an offer or endorsement. Trading involves risk of loss; prop rules change — confirm everything on the official provider website.

FAQ

Is a funded account the same as a live broker account?

No. You’re trading under the firm’s program rules and splits — it’s not the same as depositing your own funds at a retail broker, though execution may route through partner liquidity.

Can I use EAs or scripts?

Depends entirely on the firm. Some allow EAs with restrictions; others ban automation. Check the rule PDF before attaching anything.

What happens if I break a rule?

Usually immediate breach: evaluation fails or funded account is closed. Some firms offer discounted resets — not guaranteed.

Why do profit targets and drawdowns differ so much?

Each desk models risk differently. Higher targets often pair with stricter consistency or shorter time windows.

Should I pay for multiple evaluations at once?

Generally better to master one rule set. Parallel challenges can confuse discipline unless you’re explicitly running independent systems.

Trading Guide

Core building blocks every trader should understand before sizing risk: lot sizing, CFDs, futures, pip math, risk-reward, and money management. Short explanations, clear formulas, and worked examples.

Lot sizing

Lot size is not “how confident you feel.” It is the volume that makes a loss at your stop equal the cash risk you chose.

Risk amount first

Decide cash risk: e.g. 0.5%–1% of equity per trade. On a $10,000 account at 1%, risk = $100.

Stop defines distance

Measure stop in pips (or points). Wider stop → smaller lot. Tighter stop → larger lot for the same dollar risk.

Volume last

Only after risk and stop are set do you calculate lots. Never reverse the order.

Lot size ≈ Risk ($) ÷ (Stop distance in pips × Pip value per 1.00 lot)
Example: Account $10,000 · risk 1% ($100) · EURUSD stop 25 pips · pip value ≈ $10 per standard lot.
Lots ≈ 100 ÷ (25 × 10) = 0.40 lots.

CFDs (Contracts for Difference)

A CFD tracks an asset’s price. You trade the difference between open and close — you do not own the underlying stock, metal, or index.

  • Leverage — brokers require margin, not full notional. Amplifies gains and losses.
  • Long or short — profit if price rises (buy) or falls (sell), within broker rules.
  • Costs — spread, commissions, overnight swap/financing can quietly erode edge.
  • No delivery — unlike some futures, you typically never take physical delivery.
  • Counterparty — your broker is the other side; check regulation, execution, and withdrawal track record.
  • Gap risk — markets can open past your stop; size for worst realistic slip.
Takeaway: Treat CFDs as leveraged speculation. Position size must assume slippage and overnight holding costs — not just chart entry.

Futures

Futures are exchange-traded contracts to buy or sell a defined quantity of an asset at a future date. Specs (tick size, contract size, margin) are standardized.

ConceptWhat it means
Contract sizeFixed exposure per contract (e.g. gold, crude, index). One “lot” is one contract unit of that product.
Tick / point valueMinimum price move × dollar value of that move = P&L per tick.
Initial / maintenance marginCapital locked to hold the position. Not your maximum loss — liquidation/margin calls exist.
Expiry & rolloverContracts expire; active traders roll to the next month. Know front-month liquidity and roll costs.
vs CFDFutures usually sit on a central clear exchange with transparent specs; CFDs are OTC products of your broker.
Sizing idea: Risk $ per trade ÷ dollar risk per contract at your stop distance = max contracts (round down).

Pip calculations

A pip is the conventional smallest price increment quoted for FX pairs. Knowing pip value turns “25 pips risk” into dollars.

Most pairs

Quoted to 4 decimals. 1 pip = 0.0001 (e.g. EURUSD 1.0850 → 1.0851).

JPY pairs

Usually 2 decimals. 1 pip = 0.01 (e.g. USDJPY 149.20 → 149.21).

Fractional pips

Many platforms show a 5th (or 3rd) digit — a “pipette” = 0.1 pip.

Pip value (approx, quote in USD account) ≈ (0.0001 ÷ quote price) × contract size
For many USD-quoted majors on a standard lot: ~$10 per pip. Mini (0.10) ≈ $1 · Micro (0.01) ≈ $0.10
Worked: Buy 0.50 lot EURUSD, move +40 pips → roughly 0.50 × $10 × 40 = $200 (before spread/commission).

Risk : Reward

Risk:reward (R:R) compares how much you risk to how much you aim to make. A 1:2 plan risks $1 to chase $2.

R:R = Reward distance ÷ Risk distance
Expectancy ≈ (Win% × Avg win) − (Loss% × Avg loss)
Why it matters

At 1:2 with a 40% win rate you can still be net positive. High win rate with 1:0.5 payoff often fails long-term.

Process tip

Define stop and target from structure first. If R:R collapses below your playbook minimum, skip the trade.

Example: Entry 1.1000 · stop 1.0975 (25 pips) · target 1.1050 (50 pips) → 1:2. Risk $80 → planned reward $160.

Money management

Money management is the set of rules that keep you solvent through losing streaks so your edge has time to work.

  • Fixed fractional risk — risk a fixed % of current equity (often 0.25%–1% retail; prop rules may force lower).
  • Daily / weekly loss caps — stop trading after X losing R. Protects psychology and funded-account rules.
  • Correlation control — three “different” pairs that all USD-risk dump are one bet, not three.
  • No revenge sizing — doubling after a loss to “get it back” is how accounts die.
  • Scale only after consistency — raise risk after a measured sample of trades, not after one winner.
Simple starter framework: 0.5% risk per idea · max 2 correlated opens · max −2R day · review weekly expectancy before changing anything.
Education only — not financial advice. Product specs, margins, and pip values vary by broker and instrument. Always verify on your platform before trading live capital.
